James Foster and Ora Nelms Foster

James Foster, affectionately called Mandy by Ora, his wife, was born on 3 Mar 1897 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  He died on March, 23, 1962 in Sacramento, California.  He was buried in California. 


James and his wife, Ora Nelms Foster appear on the 1920 US Census for Bolivar Township of Big Bay in the county of Poinsett of Arkansas taken January 23, 1920 in ED #198.  Farm Schedule #148.  They lived along the C. T. and S. R. R. James is a carpenter of houses.  Their neighbors are also family members, John Hardaway, and his wife Josie Foster Hardaway (Ora's sister) along with their parents, Lucy and Henry Nelms.


The only two children of James and Ora born and listed were  James 2 years and 2 months and Robert, four months old.  James was 21 and Ora was 20.  James married Ora Nelms, daughter of Henderson Nelms and Lucy Nelms in Arkansas.  Ora was born about 1900 in Walls , DeSoto County, Mississippi.  She died on January 29, 1971 in Joliet, Illinois.  She was buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Will County.
